Conditions of Use for Club Kayaks

The following is a list of requirements that must be met and agreed to by the hirer of any of the East Auckland Kayak Fishing Club kayaks:

1.  All care must be taken in securing the kayak when transporting. TIE DOWN STRAPS ARE NOT PROVIDED.
2.  It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure suitable weather conditions are present at the time of use, based on the skill level of the user.
3. All hatches must be kept secured while at sea, and any neoprene covers should be in place to prevent water ingress.
4.  The kayak needs to be  collected and returned with all equipment supplied and in a clean condition.
5.  The hirer must report any damage or loss of equipment.
6.  Club members hiring a kayak for use by someone else (e.g. a friend) are responsible for that person abiding by the rules above.
7. The club hires these kayaks to existing members who wish to try a Viking kayak,  or simply to take a friend out to share the enjoyment of the sport.

8 Novice members new to the sport can only hire and pay for a club kayak to be used only for club days where a experienced member or members will be made available for your guidance. Two to three sessions moves you to intermediate working towards experienced. This maybe sufficient for your decision to either further the sport or not. At this stage we hope you will have your own kayak or one in the plan soon.

9 New members experienced in this sport, the hireage option is also to your benefit, but as with everything new, lets start in the circle of events that we provide for our members, hiring for these events for the purpose of trying a new kayak or for a friend to tag along. The key is making yourselves known, building that trust for the hireage option to go further for you.
